Established in 2015, Dress Hire AU quickly became the go to destination for Australian women wanting to wear the most up-to-date designer pieces.

Director, Ellie Dunstan, created the business in her final year of university studying to become a Speech Pathologist. Special occasions were aplenty and so too were the high-end dresses. "I was spending thousands of dollars on dresses to only wear them once or not at all." At the time hire companies were limited to formal full-length gown hire and that was when Dress Hire AU was born.

The business, which started off with under 20 dresses, quickly grew to over 700 and had outgrown the spare bedroom of her parents home. At the end of 2017 Ellie decided to leave her speech pathology career to focus on the business. "The business had grown to a point that I could no longer do it on the side and I had to make a decision between one or the other. I chose to leave my career to focus on Dress Hire AU."

In 2018 Dress Hire AU opened its warehouse in Eltham, which gives customers the opportunity to try dresses on. Dress Hire AU continue to grow their range at a rapid rate in order to offer all Australian women the opportunity to wear "that" dress without the hefty price-tag. 

Having outgrown their current space Dress Hire AU have taken ownership of the adjoining warehouse and in late 2024 will open a brand new warehouse spanning over 400sqm.
